Chennai, August 16 - At the age of 75, superstar Rajinikanth muscled his star power and led his gangster action drama Coolie to the box office glory, not just in India but also internationally. The Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial scaled to new heights with unprecedented day 1 collection.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie broke several records for Tamil cinema, and one of them is the biggest overseas opening. The much-hyped blockbuster was in all its glory and powered to a massive $8.75 million (76.75 crores) on its opening day in the international markets, beating the previous record holder, Leo (66.50 crores), starring Thalapathy Vijay.
