Undertaker Talks About Kane’s Incredible Debut And Legacy

The Undertaker joined "Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions where he reveals why Kane’s debut was one of the greatest ever, discusses how his career rival overcame the dental trauma of Isaac Yankem and weighs in on Kane’s versatility and longevity as an in-ring performer.

"One of the greatest I think debut ever right?," says Undertaker. "There was such a great build to his Paul Bearer really, you know, does he really have Kane you know, because he'd been talking, you know, he's alive, right? It's a great story because it just evolved and evolved and evolved with, The whole Hell In A Cell was designed For Kane and Kane just rips the door right off the hinges.



For the first time, in what I had been there for seven years, eight years at that point, is it hard as I am trying, You'd ever seen fear in The Undertaker's eye or that question?

There's always just that cold shark, look in The Undertaker's eyes, right? and then all of a sudden, I am looking at this brother that I thought was dead 25 years ago and now there he is looking at me straight square away.

He's a huge guy work with anybody, but they just handcuff him right out of the get-go with this Isaac Yankem gimmick, which you know, they give you a character and it's like that. I mean it just it that destroys your confidence as well, right?



Because One you're just doing something. You don't believe in you don't feel it. So and that's exactly what happened with him. So, you know, I mean he's kind of going through the motions and I remember, you know, you have talked with Vince and coincidentally he ends up having the same talk with me and they didn't, you know the to didn't coin that, you know, they weren't planned.

"I remember telling him I was like Glenn I said look you have got to have a little bit on you. Are you not going to make Make it I don't care how much talent you have. I don't care how big you are, but if you don't have a little bit of on you for the right reason, you're never gonna make it in this business and people don't understand our business.

"They're like, well, I it's kind of she say but you got a Van Hollen you for the right reason you got to know when to take up for yourself. You got to know when to stand up and say no that's not right for me because it's all about credibility with your audience if you don't have credibility with your audience, I don't care what you do? You're done. They're not gonna buy you and that's what he was missing.



"But when the light came on they're like come on and then here we are, you know with him twenty-plus twenty-three twenty-four years later. Yeah. He's still you could do any number of things with him right now. He stops. He just decided to stop being the mayor he could still come back and he could be Corporate Kane.

"He could be original cane there's so many layers to what he can do, but it all kind of started with knowing that okay, you're here for a reason. You just don't show up here and you just don't mail it in You've Got to Believe In You got to be able to stand up for yourself and when you can do that, then you're going to make money and then that's what happened to Kane."
