Shocking Budget and Runtime of Netflix's Stranger Things 5 Revealed

Mumbai, October 10 - The wait for Netflix's science fiction horror drama Stranger Things 5 just got even more intense. The blockbuster series is gearing up for its grand finale, and the newly revealed episode runtimes and budget have shocked everyone, sending fans into a frenzy.

If the latest report is to be believed, the fifth and final season will be the longest and most cinematic instalment in the show's history, with each episode running over 2 hours. According to details that surfaced online, Stranger Things 5 will consist of eight supersized episodes, each running between two to three hours — a format more akin to feature films than traditional television.

The total runtime of the season clocks in at over 19 hours, promising an epic conclusion to the beloved Hawkins saga. The first episode, titled The Crawl, is reportedly 2 hours and 10 minutes, while the final episode, The Rightside Up, clocks in at 3 hours.

The Duffer Brothers, the creators of the show, reportedly captured over 650 hours of footage this time. "This is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies," said creator Matt Duffer in an earlier interview.

If the runtime has shocked everyone, the budget of the show is another jaw-dropping aspect of it. Per reports, each episode of Stranger Things Season 5 costs $50 to $60 million ( Rs 450 crore - Rs 550 crore) to make. Though it is not the costliest show, the kind of money involved in it is something you'd expect from big-screen productions, not TV.

The season will release in three volumes, with Volume 1, consisting of four episodes, streaming from November 26, followed by Volume 2 (three episodes), releasing on December 25 (Merry Christmas, Hawkins style), while Volume 3 – The grand finale, just one epic episode, dropping on December 31.
