Several AEW Stars Were Not Available For Wednesday’s Dynamite Due To COVID-19

This week's episode of AEW Dynamite was built around a Blood & Guts match, taking a full second hour. Although there were other matches and segments in the first hour of promotion, AEW usually announces those matches in advance.

This week, most of the matches booked for the first hour were not revealed until a day before the show. This is because the cards are being thrown together at the last minute as several AEW stars are testing positive for COVID-19.



During today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the situation.

“I want to mention this. There were a lot of people who were not available for the show because of COVID. That’s why they did not announce the show until pretty much today other than the Blood & Guts. I don’t think they had any matches until this morning….they didn’t announce much of this show ahead of time because…literally…they had to redo, whatever it was.

The show was being put together late because of fears and things like that. That’s why some of the matches, besides the Blood & Guts match, the matches themselves are not exactly the usual quality.”
