Rishab Shetty Reveals His Immediate Next Film After Blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1

Bengaluru, October 17 - While period folk actioner Kantara Chapter 1 is running riot at the box office, actor Rishab Shetty sets sights on his immediate next, Jai Hanuman, which falls in a similar genre. The actor confirmed this development during the recent media interaction.

Jai Hanuman is the sequel to the mega blockbuster Hanu-Man, which was released last year. Director Prashanth Varma will return to direct the upcoming film, which is expected to start rolling in December this year. Shetty, who will play the role of Lord Hanuman, confirms that this is the only film he is currently working on.

"Yes, my next film is Jai Hanuman. It's currently the only project I'm working on", Shetty confirmed during his visit to Mysuru, where he offered prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple, before discussing his plans with the media. The movie will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

With this confirmation, Shetty has put rumours to rest regarding Kantara Chapter 2 being its next. The actor, filmmaker had earlier said that he has plans to expand the Kantara franchise, but nothing is on the cards in the immediate future.

Shetty also has The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, to be directed by Sandeep Singh. The film was announced for January 21, 2027, but it is likely to be delayed as there is no clarity on when it will start rolling.

Meanwhile, Kantara Chapter 1 is heading towards the 700 crores mark at the worldwide box office. It has crossed 675 crores in 14 days, already becoming the second highest-grossing Kannada movie ever and the second highest-grossing Indian title of the 2025.
