Report: UFC On ESPN: Holloway Vs. Rodríguez Canceled

UFC was targeting a featherweight bout between former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway and The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America featherweight winner Yair Rodríguez as the event headliner, but now it seems like the fight is coming off to a cancellation.

According to Ariel Helwani The July 17 bout between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez has been canceled, Holloway withdrew due to an undisclosed injury. The current hope is to reschedule but nothing has been decided yet.



The news was First reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi. Rodríguez's latest fight was his victory against Jeremy Stephens in a rematch on October 18, 2019 at UFC on ESPN 6. He won the fight via unanimous decision. This fight earned him the Fight of the Night award.

While, Holloway recently, faced Calvin Kattar on January 16, 2021, headlining UFC on ABC 1. Holloway dominated Kattar for all 5 rounds and won by unanimous decision, with two judges scoring the fight 50–43 and one judge scoring it 50–42 in his favor.
