Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG: Theatrical Business Sets Huge Breakeven Challenge
Hyderabad, August - Saaho director Sujeeth's maiden collaboration They Call Him OG with superstar Pawan Kalyan is creating a stir among the fans and trade alike, ahead of its September 25 release. No doubt is the most hyped movie of PK in recent times, and one of the most anticipated Telugu movies of the year.
OG, which is a gangster action thriller film, has been in a hot demand in the trade for its theatrical deals. While the theatrical business is yet to be locked, the negotiations have already started. According to the Telugu media reports, the Telugu states' business of OG is expected to be locked at over 150 crores.
It is said that Nizam's rights are quoted at over 60 crores, while Andhra's are 70 crores, and Ceeded is 25 crores. Including rest of India and overseas rights, the theatrical business of OG is expected to be over 175 crores share, which is higher than the highest-grossing film of Pawan Kalyan.
If the makers manage to fetch the quoted price, then the film will require to gross minimum of 300 crores worldwide to achieve the really tough break-even target. The film is produced by DVV Entertainment, which backed SS Rajamouli's RRR.
OG stars Pawan Kalyan in the title role of Ojas Gambheera alongside Emraan Hashmi as Omi Bhau (in his Telugu film debut), and Priyanka Mohan as the female lead. The film revolves around a ruthless don named Ojas Gambheera "OG" who returns to Mumbai following his ten-year disappearance, to reclaim his empire and exact vengeance on the current tyrant, Omi Bhau.
The movie is scheduled to release on September 25 in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil, languages.
