Johnny Knoxville’s Status With WWE After His Royal Rumble Involvement

On January 1, 2022, at WWE's Day 1 pay-per-view, Knoxville announced he would be at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view as a participant in the event's signature namesake match.

His entry was confirmed on the January 7 episode of SmackDown while simultaneously starting a feud with Sami Zayn. He tossed Sami Zayn out of the ring after he lost to Rick Boogs.



According to WrestleVotes, Johnny Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement is slated to be Rumble only & done on Saturday. However, WWE is indeed working on another celebrity appearance for WrestleMania. The name is Either b/c it’s “top secret” (unlikely) or it’s undecided.

In 2007, Knoxville was slated to face Umaga at SummerSlam with the entire cast but was called off following the Chris Benoit murders and suicide that occurred in June. The following year on the October 13, 2008 edition of Raw, Knoxville made his WWE television debut feuding with The Great Khali.

WWE Royal Rumble is scheduled to take place on January 29, 2022, at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
