Disney's Zootopia 2 Eyeing $500+ Million Worldwide Opening: Biggest of 2025

Los Angeles, November 25 - Disney is finding itself in the uncharted territory of the 2025 box office, but not entirely in the unfamiliar situation, as the studio's highly-awaited animated buddy cop comedy Zootopia 2 is eyeing the biggest opening of the year with a sensational $500 million worldwide.

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the sequel to the 2016 blockbuster is expected to deliver a massive domestic opening in the range of $125 million to $150 million, one of the highest for the year. But the real shockwave is coming from China, where Hollywood releases have struggled to regain pre-COVID momentum.

In a rare post-pandemic resurgence for Western titles, Zootopia 2 is poised to dominate the Chinese box office, with trade estimates predicting an extraordinary $200 million+ five-day opening. Such a start would place it second only to Avengers: Endgame in the territory, marking a major comeback for Hollywood in the region.
