A Big Twist In Superstar Rajinikanth's Thalaivar173 With Kamal Haasan and Director Sundar C

Chennai, November 13 - A week ago, superstar Rajinikanth announced his 173rd film, to be produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International. The legendary duo reunited after three decades, for what is one of the most-awaited Tamil films.

The film was confirmed with Sundar C as the director. However, a week later, the director had backed out of this mega project. The filmmaker issued a statement stating that due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, he has decided to step up from this prestigious film.

Thalaivar 173 marks a cinematic milestone, uniting two of Indian cinema's most iconic legends after decades of mutual admiration and friendship. The recently made announcement celebrated not only the grandeur of the film but also the deep bond between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, symbolising five decades of brotherhood that have inspired countless artists and fans.

With Sundar C not directing the film, which is reportedly a comedy actioner, rumours in the industry are making noise that Karthik Subbaraj might come on board to helm it. However, there is no official confirmation on the same yet.

The much-anticipated film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release during Pongal 2027, presented by Red Giant Movies. With two titans of Tamil cinema joining hands, the project is poised to become one of the most celebrated moments in Indian film history.
